Day 12 Wednesday 2 April
Prescott, AZ to Cameron, AZ
We leave Prescott and head into the Black Hills of Yavapai County which will take us up to 7000 before riding through the mining town of Jerome and dropping down
3000ft to Cottonwood. The picture above is one of the photo stops that we will get the chance to stop at and we will be making our way to the mountains on the other
side of the valley.
We will pass through Sedona where there might be the oppertunity for anyone to stock up if they have no clean t-shirts. And then it is onto Route 89A, it begins in the
Red Rock Country of Sedona, ascends quickly through some windy hairpin turns, through the tree lined section of Oak Creek before finally emerging the pine forests
indigenous to the area heading to Flagstaff. On arrival in Flagstaff there are two options. Option 1, head the 60 miles north to Cameron to the Hotel at The Cameron
Trading Post. This will mean a very easy day, but you might not be able to check in that early which then means wandering their store for some pricey Navajo jewellry.
Option 2 is head East for 45 mins and maybe ‘Take It Easy’ by ‘Standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona’ cliche maybe, but hey why not?
From here we head north into The Navajo Nation. We will stop and take in the views of the Little Painted Desert. This used to be a county park but the money dried up
and there is not even a sign post. But it wil be worth it!
We continue up the lonel road that will take us through several reservations and even give us the chance to see some real dinosaur footsteps. And who said it was all
about riding big Harley-Davidsons? Lots of big open desert vistas to be seen to once again bring it home about hos big this country is.
The final stretch is now upon us and as the road straighten and we head south to Cameron for the night
